Paragliding Team, a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation, has been set up under the rules of IRS 501 ( c ) 3 to help subsidize the expenses of the U. S. Paragliding Team’s participation in the World Paragliding Championships which are held every two years. The next World Paragliding Championships will be held in Valle De Bravo, Mexico in January of 2009. Several members of the 2007 U. S. Paragliding Team: Josh Cohn, Kari Castle and Bill Belcourt will join the Board of Directors of the U. S. Paragliding Team Corportion to help raise funds for the 2009 Paragliding Team. This is their way of saying "thank you" and giving back some of their time to help the 2009 U. S. Paragliding Team. All future U. S. Paragliding Team members who accept funding from U. S. Paragliding Team, a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation will be expected to join the Board of Directors to help the next team. It is our hope that members of all future U. S. Paragliding Teams will help perpetuate this continued "Team Spirit".The United States will be represented by our finest pilots who have proven their worthiness by competing for a period of two years at competitions all over the world. The goal is to accumulate enough points to earn their way onto the U. S. Paragliding Team. These paragliding pilots are amateur in status and compete in these paragliding competitions at their own expense. At the end of the two year period and based on the parameters set by the international paragliding competition sanctioning body FAI/CIVL, each country is allotted a certain amount of paraglider pilots who can compete at the World Paragliding Championships. We wont know who the next U. S. Paragliding Team will be until the end of 2008. We do know this though, whoever ends up on the 2009 U. S. Team will have worked extremely hard to earn their positions. It is now our job to help them in their quest to represent the United States of America in this World arena! This event is two weeks long. And besides being mentally and physically demanding, it also demands a substantial financial commitment. The actual cost for our U. S. Team to participate in the 2007 World Championships was $14,900.00. And I am proud to say that this corporation was able cover 100% of all the team's covered expenses. It is up to us to help lighten the burden for our team and for all U. S. Paragliding Teams to come. Please show some pride in our team and help our cause by donating to this Non-Profit Corporation. It is the purpose of this Non-Profit Corporation to raise funds through donations. All Officers and Directors of this corporation are volunteers. All the money raised through this Non-Profit Corporation will be used exclusively for the benefit of the U. S. Paragliding Team. It is our goal to cover all or most of the expenses of our team, including but not limited to, competition entry fees, airfare, transportation, lodging, food and misc expenses. The funds will be distributed evenly among the team members (as per submitted actual expenses or actual funds available). Tony Lang, of Landcor Properties, who has sponsored many paraglider pilots and paragliding events over the years, set up this corporation so he could feel and be a part of the team. By making a donation of any size, you can also feel and be a part of "Our Team"!Donations in any amount are welcome and appreciated. The Non-Profit corporation is also hoping to generate corporate sponsorship by offering the benefits of tax deductible donations through IRS 501 c 3.
